Tastes like it should
It’s been a long time since I endured a servo sausage roll. Some might say, too long. Others might say, never long enough.
When I noticed this VEGAN sausage roll out the corner of my eye at a leg-stretching stop, somewhere en route to the Lake District, I wrestled with only token inner resistance before circling back to the hot food stand and fishing out some grubby pounds.
The flaky-look pastry cunningly concealed a soggy dough log. The quorn filling was pale and limp. The taste wasn’t memorable enough to be able to comment on, but the texture mimicked mysterious meaty gristle with disturbing accuracy.
Afterwards, I was left with the traditional queasy, greasy, mouth-coated regretful feel.
Absolutely perfect.

Happy to live in this brave new world where dodgy servo snacks are for everyone.
