I met Melissa in Helsinki in 2013, and together we started a semi-regular lounge room art party, which we called 'Helsinki Art Jam'. Sometimes it was just the two of us, but we always had fun. I always loved Melissa's art style — bright, colourful, and quirky. There is something about her pieces, that just make me feel happy. I'd been wanting to buy something of hers for a while, and when the time came that she was to leave Finland, she made this especially for me.
This painting makes me think of all the friends and family who live in separate corners of the world. Our respective hills might seem distant from each other, but the times we are together are happy and beautiful and full of love.
